Created File on AutoCAD 2016 Student will not open on my tutor's PC

Dear support,

My tutor is not able to open the dwg file that I have created
and sent him. Is this due to the use of the student version? He needs
to give me a grade of my work for this course on university. How can I
solve that problem? Maybe it could be because of the differences
between the versions. I've created the file with AutoCAD 2016 and he
uses 2015. I've sent him LT2013, LT2010 and .dws but he is not able to
open the files. I've installed DWG True View to convert the file but this
message occured: "Conversion Errors Unconverted files: The files
listed below could not be saved due to a sharing violation or disk
write problem." Please help me.

Regards, Nadine

Hi,

2016 and 2015 do use the same DWG file format, so he should be able to open your drawings without any issues.

The most important question is: when your tutor tries to open the drawing, which message does he get (exactly)?

Sometimes it could be a problem of transport (traffic through internet) or an antivirus software blocks the transport or opening the file, there are a lot of possbilities.

hi Alfred,

the message that he gets is:

"drawing file is not valid"

I had to translate the message into English.

This is the word by word translation.

The original message is

"Zeichnungsdatei ist nicht gültig"

Hi,

>> The original message is "Zeichnungsdatei ist nicht gültig"

AUDIT command found two errors in your file, but it opened fine in AutoCAD2015-2016 here.

Hi,

Same for me, opening your file works well.

So my guess the tutor has to check his side.

How have you sent the file, using mail or USB or copied on some FTP? Try to go another way, maybe you have AutoCAD workstations anywhere close to your tutors place to try your file side-by-side. At least you can tell him that all of us were able to use your file.

Thanks to everybody! I am excited that my file could be opened.

I've sent the file via email to my tutor. I don't know what the

problem is actually but I think I'll bring my laptop with the drawing

to his office.

I opened your file with RECOVER command and it found 2 database errors.

So to complete this discussion, I came to the conclusion that sending the file by e-mail was the problem.

When I brought the file on an USB to my tutor's office it could be opened without any objection.

Thanks anyone for helping me!
