To respond to your question, only workstation cards are certified by Autodesk. However, I've found the certification to be a joke the last few years at least, as even certified cards don't always work as expected or correctly and Autodesk doesn't stand by their certification.
I use computers with both pro and consumer cards and don't notice a difference between the two, although I do almost exclusively 2D work. If I were in your position, I'd get the gaming card I wanted. When you find one you like, you can ask on the forums if anyone else is using the same card and if it has any issues with AutoCAD.
