Pendean.
I went through a HUGE layer states learning curve awhile back. Had major issues with some things and almost bailed. Some of the settings I chose for various reasons and unfortunately I can't really remember why.... but whatever I did I finally got to where I could use it effectively.
Now that being said, I'm not opposed to rethinking some of this stuff.
A couple of questions.
1. Why would the layer properties to restore tick boxes be greyed back and selected? I take it that that is not normal?
2. The number 2 callout you provided. That is one of the things I'm remembering was giving me so much grief. When I deselected it that's when things started working for me..... or at least made things more intuitive as to how the changes were taking place. Had something to do with that I typically just freeze/ thaw rather than on/off. It's another reason that I don't go into changing the layer states through the layer states manager/ editor. BUT as I look at it as we're talking I see they have off and freeze there as well. Typically I just work in layers in the viewport and update the layer state. More intuitive to me.
3. Wondering what the apply properties as viewport overrides is doing to me. Not following that and wondering now if I should "play with that some?
Not trying to be difficult but I've been working on this "template" for quite some time for a client of mine. Just don't feel right about sharing too much since he's paying me to pull it all together.
The updated release apparently is not an option to me. I've been down this path before and have tried to update but apparently I waited to long to update and my ability to update was "disabled" by autodesk. Bummer.
