The issue of these checkboxes being grayed out it's been giving me a heartburn for years. Getting no help after extensive online research and opening help tickets with Autodesk and their local vendor, I started doing my own troubleshooting. I identified the culprit being custom icons for my projects' folders.
I am a CAD manager and I always have 2 versions of Civil 3D on my machine, sometimes even 3 (2019, 2021, 2024 right now). To make it easier for myself to keep track of the C3D version in which a project is designed, I change a project's folder icon with the said C3D version icon. Well...that breaks the SSM by making it believe that the folder is read-only, even though it is not. Moving the sheet set and the dwgs in a folder with the Windows default icon fixes the issue.
While the problem was me, customizing my folders, it seems like it should not be happening. Any Autodesk reps here to look into it?
Hopefully this will help others.
