Lost file

Hello, i was working on a saved project, and AUTOCAD did a system shutdown, the file that i was working on has recovered, but all of the data in that file is missing. When i recovered the file, it is showing that this file has not been worked on since the day prior, there is nothing on the file now, and there is no back up showing that i was working on it today from what i can see, can i please have some guidance to recover what i was working on. Thank you, Lucy

@899358501  You should have *.bak files in your drawing folder.  Rename you latest *.bak file to *.dwg and open it up to see its contents.  Use windows explorer for this operation, not the usual Autocad dwg open window...

for some reason i don’t have the bak files for this one, i recovered the file, but it has to recollection that i worked on this, the last memory autocad has is when i saved the empty file :cara_de_decepción:

@899358501 ,

Another option is to use the Windows "Restore file from Previous Version".

if you have not been saving your dwg since you opened it to work on then you may be out of luck....

you should also check your savetime setting which AutoCAD uses to do automatic saves to temp files.

but still no guarantee that those autosaves won't be corrupted either.

that's where the "save early, save often" phrase comes into play

... or your system was just teetering on the edge of crashing for some time and something pushed it over the edge: in the meantime it was messing with your programs and preventing them from saving if you did so manually as you worked in your file.
