I tried exploding some text at various zoom levels, and with the text at different sizes, and it seems the length between polyline vertices is dependent on the size of the text. With 10" high text the smallest I could get the length is about 0.079" or 2mm. But with 5" high text I can get the length to 0.035" or 0.9mm. But of course, the length scales with text size. So if you were trying to get smaller lengths between vertices and exploded 25mm high text, then scaling it back up to 50mm will result in scaling the lengths up 2x.
But what you could when the text is exploded is run PEDIT on each polyline and change them to splines. The vertices remain the same, but it smooths out the polyline into a nice curve. I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to accomplish after the text is exploded. But if you do change to splines, just keep an eye out because sometimes weird glitches happen and pline ends get connected when they shouldn't, etc.
