DWF include 3D oribital viewport in paper space layout

Hello,

We were recently  visited by a software reseller. During a demo the reseller displayed a drawing, the drawing had a titleblock and 4 viewports. 3 of the viewport were conventional orthographic projection (plan , section etc.). The 4th viewport was a 3D view of the designed object. The presenter was able to 3D oribit in the 4th Viewport.

Questions...

Was AutoCAD used to create the file - or maybe Microstation?

I have never seen this in DWF; as far as I know you have only two options ... to make a fully 2D type DWF - withouit 3D orbit - or to crate an oribital 3D DWF from model space. Am I incorrect? If somebody knows how to include a 3D oribital viewport in a paper space layout in a DWF then please provide some details.

Or..

Was the displayed file maybe a type of PDF - a PDF that provides 3D oribital viewport?

Hoping somebody can shed some light here...

Kevin.

Looks like I am looking for 3D PDF ?? Can we export to 3D PDF from AutoCAD - specifying a paper space viewport to be a "3D orbital" viewport? I think I found the answer in Cadalyst ... Use Bentley View to Create 3D PDFs of AutoCAD Files... http://cadtips.cadalyst.com/plotprint/use-bentley-view-create-3d-pdfs-autocad-files

Hi kevin.barnett,

I stumbled by chance on this post...

To my knowledge AutoCAD itself does not ship with tools that can create 3D PDFs or 3D views in layouts, unfortunately.

That being said, you may add this functionality by adding 3rd party software that supports this feature. - For instance Adobe Acrobat Pro or the application used to create the sample 3D PDF provided in your dropbox link.

Hope this answers your request.

Cheers,
