Cadworx & AutoCAD/AutoCAD Plant 3D
Hello,
Is CADWorx and AutoCAD compatible?
We have an outside company doing some work for us and when they sent us updates its always Navisworks. We would like to have the model drawings in our possession so we can edit and change on the fly without going through the consultant.
So what I am asking is, Can I copy and paste CADworx into AutoCAD? Do I need to convert the dwgs? I have never worked with CADWorx so please mind my ignorance.
Thanks

Yes, Cadworx is essentially an add-on to AutoCAD. You can install the Cadworx object enablers on your computer to enable you to open and see all the details of a Cadworx model, or you can ask the subcontractor to export the Cadworx models to AutCAD models, which you can then use as normal in your software.

Extract the .zip file to a folder on your PC, and then run the .exe installer. It will do everything for you. Shut down your current session of AutoCAD before running the installer.

Is that by chance what you are hoping will take place? I suspect that's not going to be an option, you'll only have access to editing those objects for as long as that free trial you download lasts.
Perform a quick test then revisit your contract with your outside company if you require more access to that content than just looking at it.
Best wishes.
