I am a set design student who is new to Autocad for drafting, I normally create a rough 3D model in 3Dmax then import the dwg to trace different views for faster drafting workflow.
I can't seem to find a way to disable snapping for one specific layer which I imported, as I only use the imported dwg for visual reference. In Vectorworks this can be easily achieved, surely there is a similar function in Autocad?

I wouldn't be so sure.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

AutoCAD does not provide option to prevent snapping to objects on a layer. But you can use this following method but be careful because there could be complications. Move all objects you don’t want to snap to onto Layer Defpoints and then turn off Layer 0. Now you can still see those objects but cannot select or snap to them as demonstrated here
