I've loaded another part as I think that was a bad example, there are 12 separate objects, basically I just want them to be one object in it's simplest form, i.e not be able to be exploded down back to the original 12 objects.

 

Currently if I explode down those 12 objects they go down to each being about 20 parts (each a 3d face), I had thought to would be 6 sides but there's even extra detail in those. So with 12 exploded down that's 240 faces, and only a tiny part of the overall model. Below is a snip of one of those 12 segments pulled apart,

If they (the 12 segments) can be turned into one larger object with minimum faces, i.e any face to face object doesn't need to exist, only exterior faces, which can't be exploded down to the original components, that's what I'm hoping to do but for the entire model.

 

So this example would go from 240 faces to 20, for the whole model of 6000+ to maybe a couple of hundred.
