AutoCAD unable to open because of .bak files -- Drawing Recovery?

Hello,

Our network drive where we store all autocad DWGs and .bak files is down. I cannot open a new/blank DWG because I believe autoCAD is trying to locate the .bak files on our down network drive because of the DRAWING RECOVERY command that happens when autocad crashes. Is there a way to disable this outside of autoCAD?

Thanks,

O

Not sure if the cause of your problem is because of drawing recovery files but try the following:

1. With all programs closed, open Windows Explorer and enter %temp% and select all and delete

2. Open regedit and see if there are entries here then delete:

...HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\Rxx.x\ACAD-xxxx:xxx\Profiles\**your profile name**\Drawing Recovery...

Autocad dose not finding the .DWT file(that is the reason that you can not open a new blanc file, probably its set to open a .dwt file from your network), check if you find in your pc, see image above, .dwt file, then  see image below

ant the last, find autocad.dwt file ,next open.
