You could use 3D modeling commands such as Patch (surfaces) and Sculpt but those would be tedious and by themselves will not solve your issue - the components have an excessive amount of detail which unless "required" to be there, should be eliminated.
One such example is the valve - the flutes make for great eye candy. In the pic below, at left is the original valve, the middle shows the interior voids filled and at the right, a valve without flutes and interior voids. If you equipment is much larger than the example valve, seriously, how important is it to show flutes on the valve (or fillets on the hex nuts, the split of a lock washer, each step offset on the valve)?
The resulting drawing size for simplified valve version (right side) is reduced by 39% over the original (left side) version of the valve. Although the middle shows an increase over the original, this was a result of combining solids and then filling the resulting solid voids.
