How to make an elliptical cylinder that has different cross section along its height?

Hi, I am trying to make an elliptical cylinder with different area as their bases. This cylinder looks as if it is crushed, therefore the middle cross section has the largest area . My plan was to draw multiple ellipses along its height and then use loft to make the 3d solid number 14. It was the same method I used to draw my solid number 2 in the file I have attached below. However, for some reason it did not work because the trimmed line (red line) did not intersect on the desired line (green line, #14)

So my questions are, how do you draw this solid, and why did trim do not work properly? Thank you.

Everything was right, you were in conceptual visual style so it only looked off. The trim worked.

and lofting as you intended would have worked.
