.bak doesn't open after changing file extension to .dwg

I was working on a file in Autocad 2016 and saved it.  Then after, I downloaded AutoCAD 2022 and tried to open the file.  The previous changes were not saved.  So I went to look for the .bak file and it was not there.  I then opened AutoCAD 2016 and then checked the Autosave location for the .bak file and found it.  I changed the extension to .dwg, but it will not open in either 2016 or 2022.  In the recent documents, I can see the thumbnail of the file and can see that the changes I want are in there, but I cannot open the file.  What is the issue here?

Booked a call with a Tech and they simply opened it in document recovery and it worked.

I wonder if that when you renamed it @kdacostaZZD8D - if you did not have file extensions visible - in that case, what actually happened is the file went from "mydrawing.bak" to "mydrawing.dwg.bak".

If you enable file extensions, you will see/check on that.
