A closed boundry cannot be determined; 3D object

When I try to hatch a 3D object, it brings up an Error box. the error box says, "a closed boundry cannot be determined" under the solution it says to "confirm that the XY plane of the UCS is parallel to the plane of the boundry objects". Does anyone know how to get that to work? I tried changing the XY UCS parallel but maybe I'm Doing the wrong thing. I would appriciate it if someone could help me. Thank you for your time.

Have you tried this?

1. In any 3d view: UCS command > Face option > Click on the face to be hatched > Accept (press enter key).

2. Check if the 3D Crosshairs' Z axis is tangential to the desired face.

3. Hatch command > Add: Pick Points > Click on the face to be hatched.
