Situation:
1. New drawing in AutoCAD 2021.1.1.
2. Paste an image as OLE.
3. OLE not selected.
4. Ctrl+C (copy) or COPYCLIP --> select OLE.
OLE copied to clipboard.
all OK up to now.
The problem:
repeat step 4 --> Copy does not work. The cursor remain "cross", not "select".
In command line I have:
Command: _copyclip
Command:
If I close and open again the drawing, copy is working only first time (steps 1-4).
This was working OK until a couple of days ago.
I have PICKFIRST=1.
Please do not suggest update drivers and AutoCAD.
I suspect a wrong value of a system variable.
Thank you.

What is the source program for your OLE image?
Is your active layer locked?
What changed with your system or workflows or location or.... a couple of days ago? That's likely your biggest problem, something indeed changed.
Do you just need to turn of hardware acceleration in your 2021.1.1 to stop these graphics glitches you seem to be describing?

Hi @w64bit,
That does sound frustrating. If you can clarify your steps, or if you would rather, ScreenCast of your workflow, it would help narrow down the cause of the issue.
- Are you doing something, like pasting the OLE object or exiting the CopyClip, after selecting the OLE and before repeating step 4 or is CopyClip still active when you repeat CTRL+C?
- Is the OLE object selected at the time you do the second CTRL+C?
- Is this occurring in all files or just the one?

Win 10, 21H1
Any OLE: camera picture, Paint bitmap, XLS ...
No active layer locked.
The problem is present with or without hardware acceleration.
----------------------------
The problem is present with or without pasting after step 4.
CopyClip is not active before the next CopyClip.
Is occuring in all files.
In few words, the second CopyClip command is ignored even if it's listed in command line and the cursor remains "cross" (default).

Open image in Paint --> Ctrl+C --> open AutoCAD --> Ctrl+V
Even if I do "Insert OLE object" from the AutoCAD menu the problem remains.

I do SELECT ALL then CTRL+C,
start AutoCAD 2021.1.1,
start a new DWG file not based on any of my templates,
I then CTRL+V,
click OK on the OLE pop-up that appears to accept the defaults,
and I can immediately select the object pasted, as well as COPYLCIP it at will anytime after that
Can you share your your source image and a DWG file with this problem in it? Not sure I'll find anything but you never know.

Files attached.
If I select OLE before command, COPYCLIP it's working OK.
1. Please enter COPYCLIP command with no previous selection.
2. Select OLE.
3. Repeat second time COPYCLIP with no selection.
The second time it's not working on my side.

But I am NOT in a 2000-format DXF file, you are: a fact you should have mentioned quite some time ago now. Your very low 2000format DXF file ma be the culprit here, that's not a good workflow you have there, but I cannot replicate your issues in your DXF file with your squiggle-lines image either. Sorry.
What else are you "forgetting" to share with everyone here?

Please use COPYCLIP and no CTRL+X, because with Ctrl+X it's working:
1. Nothing selected.
2. Type COPYCLIP command.
3. Select OLE.
4. Repeat second time COPYCLIP.
5. I cannot make a selection because the cursor is in idle state ("cross").

Hi @w64bit,
Thank you for the extra information. I was able to reproduce the issue in all versions back to 2018. I have tested on 2 systems, Windows 1909 and 21H1.
It is only occurring after preselecting an OLE object then doing the CTRL+C. Escaping or pasting results in the same.
I encourage you to report this to the Product Team for further investigation through this link:
Be sure to include the web link for this thread for reference, your AutoCAD version, and Windows version since the copyclip is a Windows functionality.

The problem is using COPYCLIP second time (after COPYCLIP first time without preselecting OLE).
@cheryl.buck
Please change:
"It is only occurring after preselecting an OLE object then doing the CTRL+C"
to
"It is only occurring when not preselecting an OLE object then doing the CTRL+C".
Thank you

Hi @w64bit,
You are correct. @pendean It took a little while of experimenting to get it to happen but @w64bit is correct, it is only happening for me on the second attempt:
1. COPYCLIP, NOT preselected.
2. COPYCLIP preselected.
The crosshairs remain the same on any subsequent COPYCLIP functions, even after escaping or using a different command.
It would likely be helpful to include this when submitting the issue to the Product Feedback link. If you can provide a ScreenCast of the steps and it occurring, that would also help them narrow down the cause of the issue.
All the best,
Technical Support Specialist
