Deleting grip mass?

Hi all,

Been using Autocad for awhile, and had run into this situation a few years ago, but now of course I don't remember the solution. Or more likely it has changed since I am not that  smart but was able to puzzle it out. I have inherited some block drawings that are not acting the way they are suppose? to. When the block is selected, grips show as expected on the entity, but a mass of them also show a few units away off to the side. Paper and model. No matter which grip is selected, it affects the block. I turned on grips within blocks because I am inserting these into cells of a table. And with this mass attched to the block it causes the block not to center as needed. The question is --- is there any way to remove them without exploding/ redoing the block. No setting or command that I have used so far has any affect on them.

Any help appriciated and thanks in advance!

Try GRIPBLOCK = 0 , and the attached.

They're the insertion points of empty Attributes.  I find that GRIPBLOCK=1 turns on the grips in the other elements within the Block and turns off those Attribute grips, but you said you turned on grips within Blocks, which I would assume means you already have GRIPBLOCK set to 1.  I'm at an older version here, so it may work differently in newer versions, though Help for 2015/2016 doesn't describe that System Variable any differently, nor have any additional values available.  It doesn't say anything about the relationship of Attributes to GRIPBLOCK in Help for either my older version or newer ones.  I tried setting ATTMODE to 0 to make all Attributes invisible, but with GRIPBLOCK=0 their grips still show up when I pick the Block.  Hmmm....

and thus my dilemma...

There has been a lot of copy and pasting going on without questioning or checking the results.

Steve, I need grips to show, need to remove the mass of grips not specifically dealing with an entity.  thanks

Kent, have the grips changed that much in the last few versions?.....ghost attributes......

tried refedit.....selected block entities and copied to new location within drawing,,,,grip mass did not copy. selected original entities and deleleted. save edit, selected copied entites and grip mass shows in original location....   while in refedit only one instance of grip mass no matter how many copies. in normal copy 1 mass per copy.........

Not really sure, but the entire block seems haunted. I would move what you need to a new file and recreate the block.

SugarCAD,

Thanks, you gave me the clue i needed. The original block contained several nested blocks with visibility turned off. Restoring visibility showed the unwanted blocks and deleting them removed the grips.
