Import .ias files
Good morning!
Is it possible to import .ias files (scan data retrieved using a drone) into AutoCAD, or is there a conversion requirement?
Regards
Deano

Hi Deano,
Welcome to the Autodesk Forums.
I've not heard of .ias files. Did you mean LAS files?
Drone aerials with elevation data are usually LAS files and you'll need to run them through ReCap before bringing them into AutoCAD.

If you were to consider third party add-ons, DotSoft's MapWorks for AutoCAD will let you select one or more .LAS/.LAZ files to create a surface in the drawing. You can then generate contours or cut cross sections, profiles, etc.

Start IMPORT command
Use the list at the bottom of the pop-up to see what all you can import into AutoCAD.
Now you know all there is to know about the abilities and limitations of the program.
See other replies for 3rd party or different software options to consider.
