Slow AutoCad Performance
So, I have been making progress slowly with all my 2021 issues. I thought I had it all just about licked when something new started happening. After a few hours of drawing, all the dialog boxes become VERY slow to deal with. I notice it most in "attribute editor" and open/save. I've even noticed that switching between drawing files is deteriorating.
What I have noticed is that if I restart my computer, everything speeds back up. And then again in a few hours it's all quite slow again. AutoCad is the only software that I notice this happening. Is there a memory/cache setting somewhere that might be letting this happen? Any other ideas?
I have searched just about everything slow related on this forum and can't find anything that really pertains to this. I apologize if I missed something.
Thanks!

I've noticed similar performance issues with every version after 2016. You can monitor the memory usage with Windows Task Manager and see it gradually creep up over a few hours. You should just need to restart AutoCAD, not your entire computer, though. I usually restart the program 2-4 times a day to keep the performance snappier.
By the way, although it appears to be a memory leak, I have plenty of memory so you'd think the extra memory being used shouldn't be a problem, but it is.

I'll check on Task Manager and see if I notice anything going on and what might cause it. I have tried restarting only AutoCad and it doesn't appear to make a difference. I end up having to shut down everything. (sad face here)

How much memory do you have on your computer? It could be that AutoCAD is using a substantial amount of your available memory and Windows needs the restart, whereas I still have plenty of memory available for Windows and other programs to use without affecting their performance.

That's the same amount of RAM I have on my work computer. Should be enough unless you're running other intensive software or working with extremely large, complex CAD drawings. I'm not sure why just restarting AutoCAD doesn't work and you have to restart your entire machine. Your processor is getting a bit old, but should still be enough for AutoCAD.

Hi,
which graphic card is your AutoCAD using, if it works with shared memory then I would understand why you need to restart the whole system ... and no, shared memory is not the best way to go.

You have a memory leak: does restarting AutoCAD fix it?
Or ONLY restart your computer like you wrote?
Does ABOUT command in AutoCAD list your version as 2021.1? It needs to be so.
