Slice on dodecahedron
Hi. I can´t find a way to split dodecahedron into two objects (see picture attatched) so that neither of the part would be deleted. Videos i found in internet show how to slice simple boxes etc and it works in my program also. I´ve been searching a trying this, what is most probably 10 second job, for about 5 hours and i could use external help.
I marked the dodecahedron, clicked Group, fitted the rectangle on/through it, clicked Slice, clicked on dodecahedron, but program still wants me to Select objects to slice. Why doesn´t it recognise the dodecahedron?
Could you guys give me a hint?

During the slice command you should be asked to select which side to keep, with the option to keep both sides. Do you not get that prompt?

Not sure why "...I marked the dodecahedron, clicked Group, fitted the rectangle on/through it," . Why does "marked" mean and "fitted the rectangle"? Slice can handle groups but why group the objects?
Only solids and surfaces will be sliced, not meshes. What are the object types used in the dodecahedron. I would model it as one solid or 12 surfaces. If you want a single solid use surfsculpt to convert the surfaces defining a closed watertight volume to a single solid.

Hi,
I did´t reach the point where i was asked which side to keep.
12 founds - dodecahedron has 12 faces. Probably that.
Marked meant that i pushed left click down and dragged around the dodecahedron.
Fitted the rectangle meant that i placed it to where i wanted to slice the dodecahedron.
I followed my own logic where i thought in order to slice a group of polygons first i have make to group them.
Dodecahedron was made from polygons like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYEQVvKTvaM
If i right-clicked on the dodecahedron, then Properties, it showed 3D Solid.
Now i deleted the rectangle, messed around with the UCS and did some other "magic" that beginners do and somehow got it sliced! The worst thing is i didn´t realise what i was doing wrong for 5 hours. Thank you guys for the tips though! I guess this is the case with amateur beginners. I´m headed up to next "10secondjobs" that will take me several hours ![]()

If you have 12 surfaces, you should surfsculpt them together to make a solid before using slice.
Here are some examples to create the dodecahedron solid
