Chamfer will do that, though it's a little less intuitive than in 2D work.

Command: CHAMFER

(TRIM mode) Current chamfer Dist1 = 2, Dist2 = 2
Select first line or [Undo/Polyline/Distance/Angle/Trim/mEthod/Multiple]: {select on edge somewhere}
Base surface selection...
Enter surface selection option [Next/OK (current)] <OK>: N {if not highlighting the larger flat surface}

Enter surface selection option [Next/OK (current)] <OK>: {Enter when showing correct surface}

Specify base surface chamfer distance or [Expression] <2>: {give distance if default is not as desired}

Specify other surface chamfer distance or [Expression] <2>:

Select an edge or [Loop]: L
Select edge of loop or [Edge]: {select edge -- it should highlight looping around}

Select edge of loop or [Edge]: {Enter to complete}

You can call for the Angle option and give it 45°, but it seems to come back and ask for confirmation on the distances anyway.
