Hi,
What a crazy idea (no matter in which version) to want to turn off the only really meaningful communication source in the block field with the program.

Hard to remember but i though you can't. Commands COMMANDLINE/COMMANDLINECLOSE started a bit later with v2006.
The only thing is to use a tool that moves the commandline(CMDL) to outside of the visible screen
and back to the the visible screen area. [I doesn't support to turn the CMDL off, therefore you have to look for a tool yourself if you want to]
Keep CMFL always on with 4 lines visible to see all feedback from AutoCAD commands.
