Newbie Question About Views

Hi,

I have a totally newbie question :cara_con_una_leve_sonrisa:

I opened a .dxf file in the Autodesk Viewer and it gives me two options to view (2D view and 3D view).

My question is how do I get the "3D View" option from the Autodesk Viewer when I open the file in AutoCAD?

Thanks!

Hi,

you may try the ViewCube in your upper right of CAD screen corner , click the house button . >> Click <<

Thanks for the response!

I tried that but didn't get what I was looking for.  I have attached a screenshot of the two options I get from the viewer.  I want to get the view on the right (3D view) in AutoCAD.

Thanks again!

When using AutoCAD, it will always open a dwg or dxf with the view it was saved with.  If you want the ability to select an initial view other than that, check the "Choose Initial View" option in the fileopen dialog.

Hi @Anonymous

There are two parts to what you are asking for I think:

1 - Get into 3D View

2 - Change Visual Style so it's not all Wireframe

To get into the 3D View the options are:

 - The View cube is how to get into the 3D View,

 - Orbit Command

 - Shift & Middle Moise Button

The ViewCube will lock you to certain views, the other two are more free-range.

Once in the 3D Orbit  / View:

We need to change from Wireframe to make the model more legible, The easiest way to change the view style can be found in the top left corner of the model space, just under you model tabs and click where it says 2D Wireframe [Image for Reference]

Clicking on this will give a grey drop-down box listing various view styles. by default viewer uses realistic, but this can be a bit slow on AC, so I would recommend Conceptual.

Hope this Helps.

Thank you guys so much for your help!....almost there :cara_con_una_leve_sonrisa:  Am I missing something to get the view on the right below?  Is that a finished product after rendering that I see?  Trying to get that look in the AutoCAD drawing.

to get a white background you can click Layout1 low left CAD corner . then pick inside the viewport . when your VP is active type Zoom ( Extents ) to get your 3d model . in the upper left corner of your active viewport you'll find Visual Style Control . select your needed one .

hey @Anonymous

The Model space by default is Dark Blue, in viewer its white, this can be changed in options on both - if it's for a presentation you can put in a paper space/layout - this will give a white background - you will need to do the same as I stated before with view and changing to conceptual.

AFAIK, you can only get that view as output of the render command after adjusting lights and shadows and adding a background.  AutoCAD doesn't display that as a live working view.
