The units command is a bit confusing as it doesn't really set the units of your drawing. It sets a scale factor to be used when you insert another drawing into the drawing.
As I mentioned before, you should have an idea of the what magnitude of the volume should be when you use the massprop command. This should help you validate the output from the command. Create a simple solid (a box) that is approximately the size of the shape you are measuring. Use massprop on it. Are the results similar? Use the dist command to measure the shapes length, width and height. WHat volume do you get from these values? Are they consistent? This should help you gain confidence in the results from massprop (or not) .
