SLOW, VERY SLOW

I have been using AutoCAD for Mac for years, I have a good laptop etc, I am now running AutoCAD 2024, and the tastes OS for Mac, but even on an empty file, I when I select line edges, or hover across a line it sends my CPU off the chart and become clunky. Its like if you hover your mouse over a 1000 point circle, it struggles, but im talking basic dims, I feel like the the software is the issue as I have never hard such bad performance on this software

Hi @GKPByDesign ,

Can you specify your Mac model?

Did you experience this problem immediately after installing AutoCAD?

... and did you deliberately update 2024 to the 2024.1 version yet? It does not happen if you simply installed 2024.

I went from 2023.2 to AutoCAD 2024 to try and fix the problem, it has seem to come about for no reasons. When I open autocad and click check for updates no window appears either? But 2024.1 is the one im using

I have the same MacBook model as yours, but with Intel i7.  I have not upgraded to Sonoma, I'm on Ventura.

In my case AutoCAD 2024 runs just fine.

Did you import the settings when installing 2024 version of AutoCAD? If yes, try to Reset AutoCAD and don't import custom settings from previous version (if any).

What graphics engine is enabled in AutoCAD 2024? (General tab of AutoCAD Preferences window). If it is Open GL Core Profile - try to change it to Metal. Don't forget to relaunch AutoCAD after you change this.

What mouse do you use? Do you have the same problem with Trackpad?

I have tried open GL and Metal, no effect, it doesn't seem to run well at all. its also crashed already, and autocad is typically so very stable. I am not even doing complicated items. What has happened to this software?!

Can someone please at Autocad read my crash report that I posted earlier today!

These forums are end users like you and me helping each other out. No Autodesk Support presence, not deliberate nor daily nor frequently anyway.

Here is how to open a support case with Autodesk if you are on subscription to seek out Autodesk Support's help:
