How is AutoCAD on a Mac?

I'm looking into recommending my dad a MacBook Pro for his work. He's been using an old Sony VAIO for years and it's on its last leg. https://vlc.onl/

He's an architect so he does 2D drafting on it. Will there be much of a difference from Windows if at all?

Thanks all.

Hi @kjenaneta30 ,

If you are talking about AutoCAD features, then look at this AKN document:

The interface is so different on the MacOS version of AutoCAD vs. the Windows version, you will most likely cripple your father's productivity for a very long time.

Go buy a Windows laptop for him instead.

If he's used to working on a Windows computer, then regardless of AutoCAD, your father will have a tough time transitioning.  The two operating systems are very different still even in look and feel.

Now if your father can get pass the differences between the two operating system, there's still a possibility of running AutoCAD in Windows on the Mac by purchasing & installing Parallels. You can read up more about Parallels on wikipedia
