How is AutoCAD on a Mac?
I'm looking into recommending my dad a MacBook Pro for his work. He's been using an old Sony VAIO for years and it's on its last leg. He's an architect so he does 2D drafting on it. Will there be much of a difference from Windows if at all? Thanks all.

Hi @Anonymous ,
Yes, there are differences between AutoCAD for Windows and AutoCAD for Mac. You can check them out here:
If your dad has been using AutoCAD on a PC for a long time, then he will need additional time to get used to the new OS and to AutoCAD itself.
On the other hand, he can always use AutoCAD for Windows in a virtual machine or with Boot Camp on Mac, unless the new Mac will be equipped with a new M1 chip.

Is your dad very tech savvy, loves new complete changes, and is up for a totally different user interface and Operating System experience?
OR are you up to daily or hourly calls from the old man to talk him through absolutely everything he plans on doing for weeks or months, with a surprise comment or three at the family Xmas party about how it all is messed up and how he will just retire in January ![]()
