ARM architecture compatible AutoCAD

Dear,

simple question. When can we expect M1 compatible version of AutoCAD? Running AC with Rosetta 2 is kind of laggy and low fps. Currently deciding if I should keep the Macbook or return it, because I use AC all day everyday.

Thanks in advance.

Autodesk has not announced it if you could not find it with a websearch.

What year version of AutoCAD are you running, and which updates are installed?

I am running AutoCAD 2021, haven't found any updates for this version so far. I even tried AutoCAD LT, which has latest update, but works the same. I am assuming there will be ARM version, because in other discussion on the forum, it has been said "they are working on it".

Do you see lags in all of your drawings? Even in newly created with small amount of objects?

What do you mean by words "low fps"?

Do you have a lot of Hatch objects with Solid Fill pattern in your drawings?

That is the thing, by low fps i mean the whole program is looking like a 30 frames per second video. Even when there is not a single line. The only time when it is smooth (classic 60 fps) is when 3D view the drawing (shift+mouse wheel push). So it is obviously software issue, because the 3D view is silky smooth even when there is large number of complicated objects with hatches.

What Mac model (specs) do you have?
In my experience 2D performance is the same that I have in Intel Mac.

@maxim_k  Macbook Air M1, 256bg, 16gb RAM. Well that is interesting... wonder what could be different in my setup. Is there any setting of "performance delivery" for certain applications in Mac OS? I am life long windows user, so I know nothing.

No such settings.

Do you have MacBook Air model with with 8‑Core CPU and 7‑Core GPU?
Or it is with 8-Core CPU and 8-Core GPU?

7-core gpu, but that shouldn't be the problem. It is a minor difference and as I mention earlier, when I 3D view the drawing it is smooth as normal.

What Visual Style is active in 2D view? Is it the same as in 3D view?

Just discovered one more weird thing. When I have external monitor setup and I click on the screen where I dont have autocad and than a just move the cursor to the autocad screen I manouvre it smoothly, just until I left click, than it starts lagging. Absolutely do not understand what is happening.

Do you use AutoCAD on external monitor?
What is the refresh rate of your MacBook screen? What about refresh rate on the external monitor?
You can view MacBook display refresh rate on Display tab of Displays pane in macOS System Preferences: you need to hold down the option-key while clicking the "Scaled" radio button to bring up the hidden part of the interface:

Refresh rate of the external monitor can be found in monitor's menu.

Both are set to 60 hertz, everything else except autocad is perfectly fine on both monitors.

Sorry, but I have no more ideas for solving this problem yet.
There is definitely something wrong with AutoCAD on your Mac, but what exactly is wrong - I don't know...

Hi @ohelcl,

Do you know what model of the monitor is it, and resolution?

If you disconnect the external monitor, and relaunch AutoCAD, does it show the laggy issue on the macbook air screen?

Thanks,
Wei

The monitor does not matter, it behaves the same even without the monitor, after restart/after reinstall.
