Hatch prints in solid black blocks

Hi,

I've drawn a simple floor plan, when i export it to pdf everything looks normal. However, when i go to print, it prints with large black blocks over the drawing. I have tried changing my plot style and messing around with hatch scale etc. but nothing seem to work. I would appreciate it if anyone has any ideas on what the problem may be. I've attached  what my plans look like as exported and a pic of what they look like printed.

Thank you

Post your actual PDF file and let everyone know what paper printer/plotter you are using there.

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Darcie,

I believe you have solid hatch with transparency applied to it and you save to PDF with "print transparency" option enabled.

Am I correct?

If yes, then AutoCAD creates raster image for transparency solid hatch in PDF file and Preview app prints such raster images inside PDF files as black areas - it is a bug in Preview app on Mac.

You can try to print from Adobe Reader instead of Preview, or convert PDF to JPEG format before printing from Preview app.

Thank you Maxim. That's exactly what I had done. That also makes sense as it wouldn't happen when i printed the pdf from a PC. Thanks again.
