MacBook Pro for revit

Hi,

I am architecture student and I need to buy a new laptop. I am used to Apple products, subsequently, I would like to buy a MacBook Pro. Due to my budget, which is about 1000-1300 dollars, I am looking for already used piece. Do you have any tips or experiences with this?

Thank you

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Petr,

There is no Revit version designed to run natively on macOS, so it all depends on how you want to use Revit on Mac.
One way is to use Boot Camp partition on Mac to install Windows and Revit.
Another one option is to use virtualization software, such as Parallels Desktop for Mac and use refit in Windows Virtual Machine.
Here you can find System requirements for Revit products:
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles...
There you can find all necessary information about hardware for both cases:
- for Boot Camp - see hardware requirements at the beginning
- for Parallels Desktop - see hardware requirements at the end of article.

In any case I'd recommend you MacBook with at 16 gb RAM, 500 gb SSD and with dedicated Graphics card. And I'm not sure if you can meet the budget of $ 1000 - $ 1300....

Thanks for replying me. I've found this piece from 2017. Do you think it would serve me well for another let's say 3 years?

specs - 2017 MacBook Pro 15" with Touch Bar

- CPU - 2,8GHz Quad Core Core i7

- RAM -16GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3

- 256GB SSD flash (I would buy and replace it with 500 gb or more if it is not enough)

- GPU - Grafika Radeon Pro 555 2 GB GDDR5

thank you for your help

Yes, you can use this model for Recommended-Level Configuration with Parallels Desktop and for Balanced price and performance with Boot Camp.
But:
- I'm not sure about 3 years
- You will not be able to replace 256 gb SSD in 2017 MacBook Pro 15" with Touch Bar as S SSD storage is soldered in it:
