viewport in dashed object

Hello,

Something i often use in my drawings is to use a dashed circle as a viewport object for details. This usually works with no problems at all. However i this seems to have stopped working, even in previous files where there was no problem. Object viewports still seem to be working with a circle, but just not when dashed.

Strangely, i am not able to enter the model space through the viewport. I get the flash of the drawing in model space when the 'viewport' is created. but then nothing seems to work going forward.

The only thing i can think, is that it is due to the update i installed this morning.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Post a DWG file with this problem in place (and point to it), lets see what's going on for ourselves.

TIA

I have created an example file and added it to my initial post. The same problem seems to be happening there.

The left circle where working. The right where not.

Hi John,

I can reproduce the problem on my side in AutoCAD for Mac 2020 and 2021, but in 2019 version everything is fine - the contents of viewport, created from circle with linetype other then Continuous, is not visible in Layout. Looks like this is a bug in 2020 and 2021 versions. Interestingly that when I try to plot Layout with such viewport to PDF, the contents inside viewport is visible.

You can try workaround:
- create polygon with a lot of sides, say - 64.
- assign DASHED livetype to it - make sure resulting polyline has "livetype generation" enabled in polyline properties to be able to see dashes.
- create viewport from that polygon.

Looks to be a 2020-2021 MAC issue, not seeing anything wrong on the Windows versions of those two.

@Madhatttr is is worth reporting the issue to Autodesk here https://www.autodesk.com/company/contact-us/product-feedback

thank you for your help.

Good to know it isn't something that has just happened my end. For no that workaround seems to work out no problem.

Interesting how this has developed.

I only updated to 2021 when I had some time at the beginning of lockdown, so makes sense that I haven't come across this since then.

Thanks again for your help.
