Layer State Manager Crash, MacOS

I open AutoCAD and go to the Layer State Manager. I then name the new layer state and save it. Then, I click "edit" and AutoCAD immediately freezes and generates an error report. AutoCAD remains frozen until I force quit.

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Dale,

Please specify AutoCAD version you are using and macOS version installed on your Mac.
And what specific name do you give the Layer State?
I cannot reproduce tis issue on my side - macOS 10.15.3 + AutoCAD 2021

Hello, Thanks for responding. MacOS Catalina 10.15.4, AutoCAD 2020 version Q.46.M.184. I am using a student license so I'm not sure if there is any issue there. I just name the layer state "custom".

I am pretty new to AutoCAD and in the drafting class I took, we only dealt with 2D drafting, so I am attempting to learn 3D modeling on my own. I am also having trouble saving the layers I create and am wondering if this issue is related to the inability to edit layer states.

You need to try to install latest update from here:
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-for-mac/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autocad-for-...
This Update fixes compatibility issues with macOS 10.15 Catalina.
And then install AutoCAD for Mac 2020.1.2 Hotfix from here:
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-for-mac/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autocad-for-...

After you will install updates, test your problem again.

There shouldn't be any issues with student license, as AutoCAD is the same for students and for commercial users.
