In AutoCAD for Mac, when the LAYMCH commands is used and a block is referenced, it appears to consistently move subject objects to 0 instead of the layer in which the block is inserted. AutoCAD for PCs does not work this way.
Is it possible to change this somehow?

Hi Chris,
You already asked this question a year ago:
https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-for-mac-forum/laymch-is-not-moving-objects-to-a-block-s-inser...
Unfortunately, nothing has changed since then - the bug is still here.
BTW - I always use MATCHPROP command, even if I need to change only objects layer.

That's a shame that no one has addressed this, despite the number of updates. I can't imagine it is intentional that the different versions of AutoCAD work so differently, but I suppose that using MATCHPROP instead will be a good approach.
Thanks.
