Hello,
I'm new to AutoCAD and using a 2020 trial on a Mac.
I've set up some layers for my drawing and colour-coded each.
I've selected "doors" in the dropdown within my layer toolbar (see attached screenshot). When I then draw, the colour is still the default white though, making me assume the layer hasn't changed. I've then right clicked "doors" in my layer list and selected "make active". This still doesn't seem to work though.
Am I missing something obvious in order to select and start drawing on the layer I want?
Please help, thanks!

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!
Hi Shanna,
I think you have current color setting for new objects different from "ByLayer".
Deselect everything in the drawing area and look at Properties palette. Color property should be "ByLayer", not other:
If it is not set "ByLayer", open dropdown list of "Color" property and select "ByLayer"
