Unloaded xrefs reload themselves when saving the drawing

Hi everyone!

I'm using Autocad LT 2020 for Mac and I'm having some issues with xrefs:

I'm working on drawing A where I have drawing B as an xref.

Drawing B has another xref which I will call C.

When I'm working on drawing A, I only need to see drawing B so I unload drawing C, but every time I update drawing B, drawing C get's reloaded. This also happens every time I reopen drawing A.

How can I keep drawing C unloaded in drawing A?

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Rebeca,
You see such behaviour because of the defect (bug) in AutoCAD for Mac.
If you don't need to see Xref C in drawing A, as workaround, you can change the type of Xref C in drawing B from Attach to Overlay. Right-click on C in Reference Manager (in drawing B) and select Overlay from context menu.

Hi @maxim_k maxim_k. Thank you so much for your reply!

I though of that, but unfortunately I still need to see xref C in other drawings (let's call them D and E), so while that fixes the problem in drawing A, it creates another problem for D and E :cara_de_decepción:

Create special layer for Xref C in the drawing B, say "111" layer.
In drawing A freeze layer with name "b|111" - you will not see the contents of drawing C in Drawing A, even without unloading it.

Thank you @maxim_k

It's still a little annoying but your idea definitely provides a way to deal with this bug!
