Running AutoCAD for Mac inside virtualized macOS

Hello everybody,

I am using virtualized macOS instances (for security purposes) and AutoCAD for Mac does not work properly inside virtual macOS machine. It installs well, it launches well but no matter what I draw on the canvas - the drawing is invisible.

I was trying both vmware fusion and Parallels in their latest editions, I tried both 10.14 and 15 macOS versions (as hosts and guests), I tried several physical hosts, I tried to tweak the virtual GPU settings but so far no luck for me.

When I install AutoCAD directly on the hardware it runs great but not inside VM.

Any idea to make this work?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Michal,
I think it is impossible to run AutoCAD for Mac correctly inside VM environment as AutoCAD for Mac uses only Hardware acceleration for its graphics engine, and VM virtual hardware does not have sufficient capabilities to ensure the correct operation of AutoCAD.
