AutoCAD Mac slow without network connection

I recently installed autocad LT on a 2015 MacBook Air 2.2Ghz. It ran fine during the trial period and also ran fine after transferring to subscription. The trouble started however as soon as I tried to launch it somewhere without an internet connection. It would take forever to launch then even after launching its virtually unusable as it seems to run agonisingly slow.

I've already tried looking at the support file search paths in preferences but they all appear to pointing to local folders, or at least they seem to list a directory on my Mac.

For what it's worth, if I start autocad with an internet connection then turn off wifi it still works fine. If by contrast I launch it with wifi switched off but then turn wifi on it remains slow and doesn't change.

The problem is definitely related to whether I start up with or without an internet connection so I can only imagine autodcad is trying to access something online but I don't know what.

Any ideas?
