Saving Template Issue

When I save my template as a *.dwt it will save everything but the layer I have created. Is there something I missed? I followed the instruction that the Autodesk gives you when searching how to save template layout.

Thank you!!

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Abraham,

I cannot reproduce your problem on my side.

Here are the steps I do:
- create new drawing (add layers, add geometry you need to it) or open an existing drawing
- use menu File -> Save As...
- In Save Drawing As window: give the name for Template, select File type: "AutoCAD Drawing Template (.dwt)", browse to location where you want to save the Template (if you need to change it), click on Save button
- answer to Drawing Units and Template description prompts which AutoCAD asks when you save Template.

Now use menu File -> New Drawing, browse to the place where you saves your custom Template and select it, select it and click on "Open" button. All layers and objects as well as settings (dim and text styles, etc.) are here in the new DWG file.

Okay thank you you for the help! The one issue I had with that was the in the final step you mentioned to "answer the prompt that AutoCAD gives when saving template". This did not show up. After I select save once I've named the file and selected the file type it just closes out normally. Is it possibly a certain default setting I already have on?

It asks additional options in the command window.
Open command window with Cmd+3 shortcut (if you have it closed), then look at it after you give the name to Template file.
