What do you mean by "it over shot"? On the screenshot you attached I can see only one selected line, but in order to be able to trim an object in AutoCAD you need also to have another objet(s) which acts as cutting edge.

What kind of object is vertical line (cutting edge)? If it is an arc, or a circle, or spline, or arc segment of polyline, then Dean's advice about REGENALL should work. Can you share your drawing here?
