I am happy to help you set up a plot style. I assume you plot linewights by color.
If so, this can be fairly easy to handle. Most firms use 4-5 different linewieghts in a plot and some times have one or two additional for screened lines or for assigning a linetype to a plotted color.
Please let me know if you have colors mapped to lightweights and then I can walk you through the CTB creation.
Of course this won't help totally accommodate someone else's file but it should be a good starting point.
Often times when working with a consultant file, most firms basically Xref in the drawing and assign all the layers to a screened lineweight in the layer overrides.
