Hi,
I'm using Autocad Mac 2017. I'm trying to extract the lengths of a large number of lines to Excel for further analyses. I know I need to generate a template text file, but I don't know to create this file. I haven't been able to find an example template text file for extracting lengths (or geometry) from Autocad. Please help me write a template text file.
Thanks in advance for your help and time!

Hi Bahram,
In AutoCAD for Windows you can use DATAEXTRACTION wizard:
http://www.cad-addict.com/2009/10/autocad-extracting-data-to-excel.html
or one of the ready-made AutoLISP routines, which you can find on the Internet.
But DATAEXTRACTION wizard is not available in AutoCAD for Mac and AutoLISP routines I have found will not work in AutoCAD for Mac, because they are based on Visual Lisp functions, which also not available on Mac.
I believe it is possible to create custom AutoLISP routine that will work in AutoCAD for Mac for your case, but but this requires time and effort to develop it.

Thanks for your quick reply. Its too bad that the Mac version doesn't have the same feature as the Windows version. I'll ask one of my students to extract the data on a Windows machine.
Thanks again for your help
