Viewports. Delete, Modify Mac 2017

Greetings,

I have a paperspace set up but I want to delete one of the viewports and or change the size of it. I did name it but it doesn't show up in the panel as named. Can this be done in mac cad? I just upgraded to 2017 but I'm familiar with 2015. Thank you for the assistance.

Hi Tricia,

Can you attach screenshot of the problem?
Which panel do you mean?

Hello!

Okay, I have 4 viewports setup. I need to delete the two on the left. I can double click on it. I can name it. But I can't change the size nor delete it.

Does mac let us modify them once we draw them out?

Looks like the layer where viewports were created is turned off (or frozen). You need to turn it on and then you will be able to see viewports borders and manipulate them.

I have two layouts. In one layout, I did freeze it. But even before then I couldn't modify it. When I create a viewport, I've never been able to modify it once I draw it. I alway have to start from scratch each time. Am I missing something when I create a view port???

You are creating viewports on the LAYER which is TURNED OFF.
You need to turn this LAYER ON using Layers palette, then you will be able to see the borders of the viewports and you will be able to select and modify them.

I put it on a different layer so the lines wouldn't show up on the print. There were too many lines- too busy.

lol, yep, it's working now. It's always something simple...

What do you suggest to not plot the line in a viewport? Is it best to put it on a different layer or is there another technique.

It is a common practice to use special separate layer for viewports and do not put anything except viewports on it.
Then you can turn it off, freeze or set its Plot property to "not to plot". All other objects will not be affected.
