Learn AutoCAD on a Mac for Interior Design

Good Morning,

I am an interior designer who has always drafted/designed by hand or hired a CAD operator.  I would like to learn Autocad and currently have a Macbook Pro 11,5.    Please guide me as to the most appropriate way to proceed.   I am looking to gain basic knowledge and skill with Autocad.

hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD for Mac forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Learning AutoCAD can be a daunting task  at times but I encourage you to first download a Trial of AutoCAD for Mac. If you prefer to work in Windows to utilize the windows version of AutoCAD, you will need to , at the minimum, install a Bootcamp Partition and install a license of Windows.

Then you have a variety of resources for learning.  If you use the Windows version, I suggest that Lynda.com might be a good starting point. Since the interface of the Mac version is different than the Windows one, you might consider the tutorials found here.

If you are more old school (like I am) you might consider enrolling in an online class or attending classes at a local technical/community college or even at a local Value added reseller.

There are likely events near you that can also be great ways to learn. Here is a page where you can find ones of interest near you.
