Are you planning on doing the upgrade to High Sierra also?  I suggest dragging your feet on that a bit even though it will be available Monday. I would prefer that we get this issue sorted out before we introduce another variable.

I will try to be available online this weekend if you decide to proceed with the rebuild. Make sure that you have backed up all your data - perhaps use Time Machine as well as manually copying files to another disk (never too careful).
