I commonly use the 'edit block in place' command by double clicking a block. (My BLOCKEDITLOCK is set to 1). However, the new version of autocad defaults this double click action to open the properties palette. (no idea who thought that would be remotely helpful).
When I open the CUI customization, I'm able change the macro to:
$M=$(if,$(and,$(>,$(getvar,blockeditlock),0)),^C^C_refedit,^C^C_bedit).
However, this does not work as it did in the past. (still just opens the properties). If I restart my AC, the macro reverts back to the default which was:
$M=$(if,$(and,$(>,$(getvar,blockeditlock),0)),^C^C_properties,^C^C_bedit)
I thought maybe entering a new value for WSCURRENT would help, but it has not.
Any advice is much appreciated.

Hi John,
Are you using AutoCAD for Mac? Or AutoCAD for Windows?
I'm asking, because in AutoCAD for Mac you cannot use CUI command to change double-click actions and you are posting in AutoCAD for Mac Forum.

I usually can open the cui customizer, search for double click, block and I can change the macro.

BTW, when BLOCKEDITLOCK is set to 1 (as in your case) double-clicking a dynamic block in a drawing opens the Properties palette. If the dynamic block contains attributes, double-clicking the block reference opens the Enhanced Attribute Editor.

I've been using this for years. Only recently (2017 version) has not been possible.
I can still easily right click the block and edit it in place... I just can't figure out why I can no longer change this Macro.

John,
1/ I want to repeat once again - in AutoCAD for Mac you cannot edit double-click actions in CUI editor.
Here is how CUI editor looks like in AutoCAD for Mac - only "Commands" and "Menus" customization available in it:
2/ So, looks like you are using AutoCAD for Windows.
I tested just now and the trick described in this article:
(actually you gave the link to it in your previous post)
works fine on my system with AutoCAD 2017 for Windows.

Thanks Maxim - Definitely not try to argue with you, and I'm sure you're right about the double click actions generally. In my CUI for AC Mac 2017 (and previous versions), there is a "command" called 'Block - Double Click'... it's the only double click reference in there, but I've edited this macro in the past.
Just as the link we both referenced, it is exactly as described for the windows version. However, if I change 'properties' to 'Refedit', the CUI will not retain that change. It will not work and will revert to the properties macro upon restart.

In previous versions you were able to edit macro assigned to double-click on block action, because it is stored inside main menu CUI file.
In AutoCAD 2017 the main CUI file was moved from ~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/AutoCAD XXX/RXX.X/roaming/CUI folder to the folder inside AutoCAD application to protect it from unauthorized changes. That is why you cannot change the macro permanently.

Thanks Maxim - That was the problem. I can't believe that'd make it that difficult for someone to change.
Navigating inside of the AutoCAD application package, granting myself permissions, opening the 'MenuGroup.cui' file in textedit, searching for 'double', and then manually replacing the macro worked.
So far the application seems stable since the change. (however, a backup of the original file is saved to my desktop)
