macOS Sierra Preview hangs with batch PDF

In mac OS 10.12, Preview hangs & displays the spinning beach ball forever when viewing a Batch PDF created in AutoCAD LT 2017.
All other non-batch PDF files load without any problems in Preview. The same batch PDFs hanging Preview, open fine in Acrobat Pro.

This is on a 2011 iMac with 16GB of RAM, 240GB SSD & new install of Sierra. All the latest macOS, Adobe & AutoCAD updates have been installed.

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Nicole,

Which preset you are using in Batch Publish window? Is it a single or multiple sheet PDF?
Does this happens with all of your drawings or with just one?

Hi there,

On Wednesday it was any file that was more than one page. Now it only seems to be some files.

Thank you,

Nicole

Nicole,

No problems with opening and viewing this PDF in Preview app on my side (macOS 10.12.5, Macbook Pro 15" late 2013).
The file opened in the application almost instantly.

Just so we are all clear, what are you calling "preview" please?

Are you saving your files or PDF to a NAS drive by chance?

"Preview" is the Mac application used to open up PDFs. I don't think I am saving files to a NAS drive.

HI @Anonymous,

I took a look at your PDF and had no issues opening it in Preview.

Is it possible to PACKAGE a sample set of files that you are using to create a Publish PDF?  I would like to see the files, the plot settings and if you could also describe your process in creating the Publish PDF it would be helpful

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

Last year I myself ran into situation that the Preview hangs when open any files, and I did not find a way to fix it. I searched in Apple forum and it seems to be an issue in the Preview app. My suggestion is to use the Acrobat PDF reader instead, or reinstall the OS.

Thanks,
Wei
