Why does my 2017 Mac LT file format save as 2013 Mac LT?

When I try to save my 2017 Mac Lt dwg. files it only allows me to save it as a 2013 Mac LT format (highest version option offered in save as dialog box). When I go to reopen the file it opens in 2013 unless I open the AutoCad 2017 LT for Mac program first - anybody know how to correct this?

Hi,

In Finder select any DWG file, right-click on it and select Get Info from context menu. Find "Open with" section, open drop down list of choices and select AutoCAD 2017 version.
Than pick on "Change all" button and confirm.

AutoCAD/LT versions 2017-2016-2015-2014 and 2013 all create 2013DWG file formats.

That's a totally separate problem, see the excellent response from @maxim_k for a fix.
