LT 2017 for mac - Problems with mouse

Hi

I have recently installed AutoCAD LT 2017 for Mac and am experiencing a problem that I have never had with any previous version.

I use a wireless mouse and when i try and click on command icons, it is very temperamental. Especially when I select part of the drawing I want to manipulate and then press the icon required.  It is odd because sometimes it works and sometimes not. It is not an issue with the hardware.  It is definitely an issue with the Software alone.

Any idea how this can be solved?

Also  - Is there an department of AutoDesk where one can speak to someone about technical issues like this.  It seems that the only way to get any help is through forums like this.

Thanks

Neil

Hi Neil,

Can you clarify what do you mean by "temperamental"?

I'll try...

When i say 'Tempermental' I mean inconsistent.

You click the left button on the icon and nothing happens.  You click again  - nothing happens, you click a third or a fourth time and the command is active.

On other occasions is randomly activates on first trying.  As I say, this is not happening on any other software,  and it has never occurred on AutoCAD LT 2013,14,15,or 16.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Maxim

Yes, I see the same behavior on my side on Retina display. Look like a defect in AutoCAD 2017 related to the new Toolsets palette.

Hi @neillyditt,

i am sorry you are experiencing this - you would think Beta testing would have caught this. What operating system are you running on your Mac?

@maxim_k, are you on Sierra?

Hi @maxim_k,

I haven't yet been able to duplicate this behavior. Is there any specific sequence of actions that causes this or is it all the time for you?

EDIT - I can duplicate it. It seems that is you are working in the graphics window and using the command line and then switch to the tools, it takes one click to place focus on the palette and then another click to select the tool. If you stay in the tool palette selecting things it retains focus.

I will get this logged for the Dev team.

I'm sorry John

This doesn't ring true for me.  I have tried to find any kind of pattern of behaviour with this but it seems totally random when the command activates.  I have clicked the pallatte box before selecting the command and it doesn't necessarily work as you've described.

This is really disappointing because if truly affects the way I am used to engaging with the software.  I feel that my productivity is being slowed by this problem.

Hi John,

I can agree that probably sometimes the issue is related to changing from keyboard input to selecting an icon on the Tool Sets.

But I also have this issue in other cases. Look at this screencast:

On the 6th second I try to click on the MIRROR button for the first time, but I do not get it. Than I quickly move mouse back to the button and now I click on it - first time, second time, third time - only on the third time MIRROR command starts.

Sometimes I have to click more than 3 times....

Thanks @maxim_k and @neillyditt,

I have this submitted to the development group so I hope they can get us a fix quickly.  Thanks for your patience.

For what it's worth, I'm having the same issue. How's the fix coming?

(I'm running Sierra on a MBP (late 2016).)

I have to say there is an absolutely staggering lack of information from Autodesk about this problem.  I have tried to contact Autodesk directly and speak to someone about this, however it seems almost impossible to get through to a Technical Support department or even a complaints department.

Really disappointing I'm afraid.

Seems like a simple solution to sort out so why no update...same with my other query on standard scales in the properties bar

Hi @neillyditt,

I am sorry you haven't been able to reach anyone on this issue. You can contact Autodesk for a Chat, schedule a call, or even wait on the line for a technician.  All of this can be done right from your account page.

Regardless, the team is aware of the defect. I am uncertain as to when a hotfix or update will be released to remedy it but will post on this thread as I obtain more information.

Hi @neillyditt,

In trying to narrow this down, can you please tell me what kind of pointing device you are using? I have reason to suspect that this issue is only happening for customers using wireless devices.

I am still trying to gather information to add to the defect log.

Thanks for your patience.

Hi @john.vellek

Apple wireless magic mouse 2

Good afternoon John,

I spoke to your colleague Martin Langolf yesterday regarding this issue. He should be contacting you in due course.

The mouse I use is an Apple Magic Mouse (wireless).  On my laptop, the issue we are discussing is not a problem if i select the icon with the trackpad rather than the wireless mouse.

Hope this is helpful.

Neil
