Always prints to pdf

Hi everyone!

Lately i've been having a problem with Autocad Mac 2016. When i print, whether is from model or layout, and choosing a printer, the output goes directly to PDF Acrobat pro, like i have chosen to preview. And then, from acrobat, i can finaly print the drawing whithout issues. Every other software prints normaly.

The same problem happens with every printer in the office, so i guess its a Autocad issue.

I searched for autocad options regarding printing but i found nothing.

Can you help me?

Thanks!

JB

Hi JB,

Do you have macOS Sierra on your Mac?
And please specify your AutoCAD version.

I cannot reproduce such issue (same OS and same AutoCAD).
I tested with two printers: one connected directly via USB port and other one is network plotter connected to the network via print server. In both cases I can print directly from AutoCAD to physical device without "PDF stage".

You mentioned Adobe software. Do you have Adobe Acrobat pro or Adobe Reader? If you have Acrobat Pro, does it install some "PDF output" software?

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro and on OS it doesn't install pdf output software as in Windows.

Somehow, Autocad started to send print data to Adobe Acrobat Pro instead of send it to the printers. It has got to be the relation between autocad and Acrobat...

Maybe if i try to reinstall autocad or acrobat it will do...

In the past, I've had some problems with Acrobat Pro installing a separate program called "Distiller" that messed up Autocad.  I can't remember which version, but I know it was not Creative Cloud, and I'm thinking it may have been version 8.0.   Currently I have both Creative Cloud and Acrobat Pro 9.0, and neither causes problems.  If I remember correctly, I may have had to reinstall Acrobat Pro and deselected the option to also install Distiller.
