Hi,
I'm using AutoCAD LT 2016 for Mac.
usually when I have inserted a reference drawing in to another file this will show up in reference manger with exactly the same name as it was created with i.e. if my original file was saved as Ground Floor it would show up in reference manager as Ground Floor.
Now for some reason AutoCAD seems to be giving files the name IDS_XATTACH_CPP_2 (whether inserted as an attachment or an overlay). All xref layers names are then preceded by IDS_XATTACH_CPP_2
If i was to try and insert a second different file it seems to give this the same name and insert another copy of the first file.
I have read from other posts about the RENAME command which does work as a workaround, though xref layers are named IDS_XATTACH_CPP_2 rather than having renamed layers, so this isn't great.
I wonder if i have done something or inadvertently changed a setting somewhere.
Any ideas?
Thanks in anticipation.

hi Paul,
Try renaming from inside the reference manager. sometimes if a name has changed which has a unconventional character or is located in a place which is deep in a directory file location it will change the name. try also moving the file and adding it and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks both for your prompt replies.
It was indeed an unconventional character in the file name, this being /
The client on this particular project has a lengthy drawing naming protocol which is a bit of a pain and one which we'll need to review.
Thanks for you time and trouble.
